The PDC Invitational Fishing Championship will be staged next Monday (7th September) at Manor Farm Lakes in Biggleswade , Bedfordshire. The 24 man event will feature a host of Stars from the World of Sport and Celebrity.
Former 6 times World snooker Champion Steve Davis OBE, along with 7 time PDC Major Champion James Wade, Current British Super Middleweight Champion Paul Smith, 2 time World Snooker finalist Ali Carter, Award winning pop star Dappy, Eastenders actor Jake Wood, Sky commentator and Former European Super Bantamweight Champion Spencer Oliver, Sky Angling frontman Keith Arthur, SKY commentator and former Matchplay Champion Rod Harrington, ITV 4 commentator and former pro Chris Mason and a host of other stars will be battling it out to see who becomes the 3rd PDC Invitational Fishing Champion.
Keen fisherman and PDC pros Darren Webster, Richie Howson and Jason Lovett will be as desperate to win this event as they are to win on the PDC tour. World number 33 Darren Webster who won the competition in 2013 said,
" Everyone pretends it’s just a bit of fun but let me tell you they all want to go home with the trophy ".
PDC pro Steve Brown has fished in the last two events and has amazingly failed to catch in each comp said,
" This is my year!. I am bringing up expert advice and I am feeling lucky"
It will be a monumental task for Brown to win. There are some competent fisherman in this years championship including Professional angler Steve Collett who will fish in the event and be there to give advice beforehand. Former N Dubz frontman Dappy is a formidable carp angler and will be confident he can walk away with the trophy as will Rod Harrington and Paul Smith. However it could end up in the unlikely hands of a novice like last years winner boxer Spencer Oliver, who by his own admission lucked out and got two big fish early on in last years competition and hung on until the bell.
The competition will feature two events all decided by the heaviest weight. An overall Champion and for the first time a four man team event. Which will include a ladies team featuring former Sky walk on girl Sammi Marsh who has recently married James Wade.
The six hour competition will be televised on Sky Sports and more importantly will be raising money on behalf of Haven House Children’s Hospice. For further details please go to www.manorfarmfishing.com
