The World Matchplay commences this Saturday July 19th. The 9 day Sky televised event being held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool see's two JBD darts players competing to become Champion.
 
Norwich's World number 38 Darren Webster takes on 16 times World Champion Phil Taylor in his first round match on Sunday. Whilst no easy task, Webster is in the form of his life and Taylor has seemed vulnerable in the early stages of tournaments recently.
 
Ronnie Baxter the World number 21 plays Wes Newton in a local first round derby. Both players live in the Blackpool area and it is a 50 -50 match up. Ronnie a former Matchplay Finalist will be looking to build on his consistent recent Pro Tour events and mount a serious challenge for the illustrious Bet Victor Matchplay Trophy.
