Wadi Camacho has got his wish and secured a return against Welshman Craig Kennedy on Friday 13th March in Newport. The first fight ended acrimoniously in the second round with Wadi deemed to have bitten Kennedy. Whilst initially it looked to be the case video evidence has proven that Camacho did not bite his opponent. Unfortunately for Wadi the Welsh area boxing council saw the video differently and fined Camacho a hefty £2000. A ludicrous amount bearing in mind it amounted to 66% of his purse!.
Whichever way you look at the outcome, what cannot be denied is that the initial fight looked like turning into a fabulous contest with both boxers showing a burning desire to be victorious. Unbeaten Kennedy probably shaded the first but the second round saw Camacho closing in on his opponent and backing the Welshman up and trading blows before the contest was stopped.
It will be interesting to see which boxer will have benefited more from the outcome of the first decision. Having managed Camacho over the last 18 months we know that he feels both aggrieved, hurt and is smarting from the result and is desperate to seek revenge in Newport on the 13th March. It should be interesting for everyone watching at the venue and the millions viewing live on Europsort.
