On Tuesday the 28th of August Anglers Mail columnist Steve Collett became the first man to lift the PDC Fishing Championship for a second time. Winning with a total weight of 28 kilos he saw off Dalroad Norslo angler Doug Banks, Chairman's Team anglers Eddie Hearn and Darren Webster who finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. The championship being held at Gold Valley Lakes for the first time fished well from the beginning. Leeds Rhino legend Jamie Jones Buchanan landed a 4 kilo fish within ten minutes of starting and the fish flowed into our competitors nets consistently throughout the day. Probably the surprise package of the championship was Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn. Fishing for the first time in his father Barry's Chairman's Team, Eddie landed 6 decent carp to finish the competition with a total weight of 22.6 kilos. The team event was won by the Chairman's Team consisting of overall winner Steve Collett, Darren Webster, Barry and Eddie Hearn with a combined weight of 76.5 kilos. In second place in the team event finishing with a combined weight of 53.9 kilos were Team Dalroad Norslo, consisting of Doug Banks, 7 times major winner James Wade, Charlotte Wood and Danielle Allfree. In third place were uber competitive and previous 2 time team winners Team Snooker. 3 time and current world champion Mark Williams MBE, 6 time world champion Steve Davis OBE, Ian McCulloch and snooker pro Ian Burns finished with a total weight of 48.9 kilos. 4th place in the team event were Team PDC, consisting of PDC world champion Rob Cross, Bob Scott, Daniella Allfree and Charlotte Wood who finished with a weight of 43.15 kilos. We would like to thank everybody who fished, sponsored, managed and assisted on this marvellous event.
