Jason Lovett had an epic weekend at the qualifying events held in Wigan. On Friday he qualified for the European Pro Tour event in Mulheim in September by beating Lee Evans, Tony Richardson and World number 25 Dean Winstanley respectively. On the Saturday he reached the last 64 of the 13th Players Championship qualifiers and on the Sunday Jason had his best PDC tour result thus far reaching the last 16 stage of the 14th Players Championship qualifier.
Jason who only turned full time pro six months ago beat Trevor Burkhill 6-5, German wonder kid Max Hopp 6-5, Former World Champion Steve Beaton 6-4, before losing to World number nine Ian White 6-5.
The winning weekend puts Lovett at number 82 in the pro tour order of merit.
Importantly Lovett will realise he is more than capable of digging deep to scrap out a win which is what all good players ultimately have to do sometimes. The weekends results should make Jason more determined to make qualification for this year's World Championship Finals.
To put Lovett's achievements into perspective he won more matches over the two qualifying events this weekend than 2 time World Champion Adrian Lewis and exactly the same amount as World number 5 Peter Wright and World number 8 Simon Whitlock.
