Three JBD and Teletext Holidays sponsored players have qualified for the lucrative PDC Grand Prix being staged in Dublin from the 3rd to the 9th September. The Grand Prix is also being televised live on SKY Sports HD throughout the week.
Steve Brown has probably been handed the hardest draw, he plays number 3 seed James Wade. Andy Hamilton who had a fantastic run in the World Matchplay in July has drawn the number 8 seed Mark Webster and Jamie Caven is pitched against Dennis Ovens.
The top 32 players including Phil Taylor and current World Champion Adrian Lewis will be competing over the 7 days to win the £100,000 first prize.
With the Spring over on Burghfield things had started to fall into place around May time.
I had around eight weeks to achieve the almost impossible as the kids summer holidays were fast approaching! I was going to owe the family my dedication to them because as the kids are getting older, I don't want to be the person that spent their childhood chasing a stinky old carp and not enjoying them growing up.
So, I was on borrowed time. I started applying a lot of bait and Hybrid boilies were my main food source due to its track record on Burghfield.
Now the crayfish in Burghfield are a bloody nightmare and I learnt a lot last season on how to keep the little buggers at bay by putting 10kg of boilies crumbed-up and mixing this with chopped Power+ Particles Tigers, sweetcorn and Activated Nut Mix Groundbait with a good helping of Hybrid Stick Mix Liquid.

With so many angler looked ahead, looking for the next new thing and perhaps the next carp catching edge, it’s easy to forget that this desire to present carp with something different is one which goes back many years.
So very often it’s also a good idea to look back, as well as forward. Many of the tips and tactics from yesteryear can provide a modern-day edge, simply because they have not been employed for so long.
