Andy Hamilton secured his place in the quarter finals of the Party Poker World Grand Prix in Dublin last night defeating Steve Beaton 3 sets to 2. Stoke’s in form Hamilton also became the only player to reach the quarter finals of all the major TV events of 2012 thus far.Last night’s game saw Beaton take an early lead winning the first set 3-2. Andy then replied by taking the second set 3-0. Although Steve took the third set to take a 2-1 lead Andy's finishing and awareness of what needed to be done to win the match was becoming apparent.
After Hamilton levelled the match at 2-2 Beaton kicked off the deciding set by forgetting that he had to start the set with a double. Although he recovered to plant a double on his third throw the damage was done. Andy pounced on the mistake to trot out a comfortable 3-0 victory in the final set.
Andy will now face Michael Van Gerwin who defeated World Champion Adrian Lewis tonight (Friday 12th).
