Andy Hamilton began his quest for the William Hill Grand Slam of Darts Championship by beating Barrie Bates 5-2 yesterday afternoon (11/11/2012).
Andy never looked troubled in beating Bates, but will also be relieved to have got 2 points in the bag. The first to 5 format certainly does not suit Hamilton's style of play and he will look forward to advancing to the latter stages. Andy now faces Irelands Brendan Dolan in his second group game tonight. Dolan like Hamilton comfortably beat Paul Nicholson in his first match. With both players having won their first games it would seem inevitable that whoever wins tonight will automatically progress to the second round knockout stages that start on Friday.
