15 times World Champion Phil Taylor suffered his second defeat against JBD player Andy Hamilton inside a week.
Hamilton recorded his 7-3 victory in Manchester in probably the most important match of his Premier League career.
Sitting ominously only one place above the relegation zone Hamilton needed to put on the performance of his career to move away from the bottom three.
With the scores even at 2 -2 Andy won the fifth leg to move in front. With the crowd sensing an upset, Hamilton won the next 2 legs to make it 5-2. Taylor was not quite ready to surrender to Hamilton yet and won the eighth leg to make it 5-3. But Andy once again broke Phil's throw to check out on 68 to move 6-3 in front and at the very least secure a point.
Sensing the opportunity to inflict a second victory inside a week against Taylor, Hamilton hits a 180 in the final leg and checks out on double 15 to prove once and for all that he belongs in the top class of World Darts.
With three games to go before the end of week 9 where the exclusion of the bottom 2 players in the 10 man league takes place. Hamilton is looking comfortable and confident that he will be in the final 4 at the o2 in week 15 in May.
