Andy Hamilton reached the semi-final of the UK Masters held at Butlins in Minehead last weekend ( 8-10th ) before losing to Stuart Kellet 6-3 but not before beating World Number one Phil Taylor and Raymond Barneveld in the previous rounds.
The match against Taylor was played at the highest level with Taylor averaging 123 and Hamilton 112 after the first 5 legs. At 3-3 the Hammer pulled away and recorded probably his most significant win in front of the 3000 capacity crowd at the Butlins venue.
With the forthcoming Premier League match against Taylor this week Andy will be in the mood and more importantly have the belief to perform the double over the 16 times World Champion.
Norwich's Darren Webster also performed well. Although running out a 6-5 loser against Dave Chisnall, Webster will take the positives out of a match that he was leading 5-3.
After having only returned to the PDC full time this time last year, Darren is beginning to understand that you really get one chance at this level and unfortunately he let Chisnall off the hook at a crucial stage of the match. It is a mistake that the rapidly rising Webster will hopefully not make again.
