World number 6 Andy Hamilton defeated 15 time World Champion Phil Taylor in the inagurual Dubai World Series event staged last week at the Tennis Club in Dubai.

The win was typical Hamilton. Coming from 4-1 behind Andy displayed courage under pressure to end up a 10- 8 winner.
The 8 man tournament matched Andy in the semi-final stage against Premier League Champion Michael Van Gerwin. Again Hamilton’s indomitable spirit saw him push Van Gerwin all the way and with Andy leading 9-8 it looked like an upset was on the cards. Unfortunately this was not to be with World Number 2 Van Gerwin running out the eventual 11-9 winner.

The Tournament along with Hamilton’s performance was a resounding success and again illustrates the global popularity of the sport.
