Andy Hamilton’s challenge for the 2012 William Hill Grand Slam of Darts ended in semi final defeat to eventual winner Raymond van Barneveld by 16 legs to 10.
Hamilton started well cruising into a 6-3 lead but then lost his way by losing 9 legs on the spin.  He eventually pulled the deficit back slightly but the Dutch 5 times World champion was in no mood to let his lead slip away and finished the last leg in style.
Hamilton although disappointed by the defeat will be comforted that by reaching the semi-finals has guaranteed his Grand Slam appearance for the next two years.
