The JBD Charity fishing event being staged on Friday September 27th at Shepherds Way lake in Brookmans Park in aid of Haven House Hospice will see two of the World’s best Darts players renew their fierce rivalry to see who will become the 2013 PDC Invitational Fishing Champion. Both Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis and a host of other PDC stars have confirmed that they will be fishing.
Keen Fisherman and PDC Chairman Mr Barry Hearn has also confirmed that he will win (sorry fish!) on the day. Knowing the competiveness of the aforementioned trio you cannot envisage the words, " No go on mate you can use my bait " readily being used. The former 2 time Matchplay Champion and Sky commentator Rod Harrington has also been honing his sublime fishing skills over the summer on the lakes and rivers of the Sahara Desert in anticipation of lifting the trophy. But bookies favourites and former and deep sea divers Darren Webster and Richie Howson will both be looking to be crowned Champion in the Sky Televised event. Darren has been very happy with his run up to the competition and the recent rain storms and formation of puddles have allowed Webster to practise with his favourite waders on. Meanwhile ITV commentator Chris Mason has also been familiarising himself with the World of fishing and has been seen in various fish and chip shops in the West Country in preparation for the event. We can also confirm there is absolutely no truth in the rumour that Steve Brown has been using his son’s toy rod in the bath to catch ducks as his practise regime for the event.
The competition will involve 20 PDC players, directors and officials as well as 6 wild card entries fishing over a 6 hour period in the hope of catching the heaviest net of fish on the day and thus walk away with the trophy and the first prize of £1000.
A full list of fisherman will be released in the early part of September.
