LADBROKES WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

JBD darts players Jelle Klaasen, Jamie Caven, Steve Brown and Andy Hamilton had mixed fortunes at the World Championships currently being held at Alexandra Palace.

Jamie came unstuck against Roland Scholten, whilst Bristol’s Steve Brown lost 3-2 against South Africa’s Devon Petersen in a game that he was 2 nil up in the final set.Dutchman Jelle Klaasen defeated Peter Wright 3-1 to claim his first TV win in 18 months and now plays World number 3 James Wade on the 23rd December.In what was probably the best 1st round game of the tournament, Andy Hamilton finally overcame Spain’s Antonio Alcinas 3-2.  At one stage Alcinas was averaging 117 whilst Hamilton was also averaging over a hundred.  Hamilton’s win puts him into the second round where he now faces the dangerous Dutchman Vincent van der Voort on Wednesday 27th December.
