The new Golden Boy Michael Van Gerwin walked into a good old fashioned street fight last night when he was out hustled 10-8 by Andy Hamilton in his Players Championship last 16 match. The win was all the more pleasing for Hamilton after he failed to take any of the first 4 legs.
Pulling back to 4-4 seemed to leave a lasting impression on Van Gerwin who until last night had been the tournament favourite.
On a weekend of British Heavyweight boxing Hamilton took a leaf out of mssrs Price, Fury and Flintoffs book and simply out muscled the Dutchman to leave him looking hapless and on the ropes by the end of the evening.
The win sets Andy up for a quarter final match today against World Number 1 Phil Taylor.
