Darren Webster and Jason Lovett both had a successful weekend at the Players Championship Qualifiers last weekend in Coventry.
On Saturday Webster reached the quarter final stage before losing 6-5 to Premier League star James Wade. Webster had done well to come back from 4 nil down to level the score at 5-5 before Wade checked out with 86 to run out a 6-5 winner. On Sunday Darren started in devastating form thrashing Irish dangerman Daryl Gurney 6-0 before losing 6-2 to World Championship Finalist Kirk Shepherd in the next round 6-2.
Webster is maturing into a very good professional and with a bit of good fortune over the next three months could surprise a lot of people in this year’s TV Events.
Rookie pro Jason Lovett also made significant strides forward in his career. Beating World number 15 Justin Pipe 6-4 and World number 39 Stuart Kellet 6-4 is no mean feat in your first year as a pro. The wins elevate Lovett to a career high 109 in the PDC Order of Merit.
