Wadi Camacho's much anticipated WBC International Cruiserweight title fight has been postponed due to the Champion Stephen Simmons sustaining a cracked rib.
The fight which was due to be held on March 1st in Scotland and shown live on Sky will now be rescheduled to a later date.
Camacho's manager Jess Harding was alerted to the problem by fight promoter and Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn on Tuesday morning. Said Harding,
“It is unfortunate. I am certain that Wadi would have gone up to Scotland on March the 1st and done a number on Simmons. He is unquestionably the most confident boxer I have been involved with and is in the shape of his life thanks to Peter Sims and his team. He is improving mentally and technically all the time and is turning into a proper fighter. We are now awaiting another option from Eddie, but as far as we are concerned we would still like to fight Simmons at a later date and I am sure Eddie is still keen to get the fight on "
Camacho, Sims and Camacho's sparring partners have still headed out to Club La Santa in Lanzarote to prepare for a fight on March 1st whoever it may be against.
