Andy Hamilton's Ladbrokes World Championship aspirations vanished into the foggy North London night yesterday when he walked into an in form Phil Taylor. Whilst the 5-0 scoreline flatters Taylor Andy will rue the amount of missed doubles that allowed Taylor the whitewash at the Quarter final stage.
Taylor's performance last night would suggest that the 15 time World Champion looked more than capable of making it number 16 on his World Championship ledger.
Hamilton who throughout the tournament had been so consistent with his finishing had a nightmare evening. At one point he had hit only 1 out of 9 finishes and against a man of Taylor's quality you’re just not going to win matches.
Although disappointed Andy will look back on a fantastic 2012 that has seen him reach the final of last year’s World Championship, the final of the Premier League, the Semi-finals of the Grand Slam, the Quarter finals of the World Matchplay, the Quarter finals of the European Championship, the Quarter finals of the Grand Prix and the Quarter finals of the Players Championships.
