All three JBD Players competed in the first 3 UK Open Qualifiers being held in Wigan over the weekend. Norwich's Darren Webster had a difficult weekend, losing at the first and second round stage on the first two days before coming to life on the Sunday beating Maurino Michels and Jamie Gulfoyle then coming unstuck against Paul Nicholson 6-5 at the fourth round stage.
Ronnie Baxter was more consistent winning games on the Friday and Sunday where he reached the 4th round stage before losing to Irishmen William O’Connor.
New boy Jason Lovett picked up valuable wins on the first day, beating Steve Pearson and Steve Grubb before losing to former Premier League Player and World Championship Finalist Andy Hamilton 6-4. Although unsuccessful on the Saturday and Sunday those vital wins in the 1st qualifier will put him in good stead for the final three qualifiers being staged on the 20-22nd of this month.
Baxter, Webster and Lovett all stand a good chance of making qualification for the finals that are being held at Butlins Minehead from the 6th till the 8th of March. However the standard of competition in the PDC event is so high all three players will have to be on top form over the next 2 weeks to ensure they qualify.
