Resurgent Ronnie Baxter and the ever improving Darren Webster had magnificent weekends in the first 2 Players Championship Qualifiers held in Barnsley last weekend.
World number 19 Baxter made his way to the last 8 stage on the Saturday, losing to James Wade 6-5 in the quarters, but not before beating Premier League leader Peter wright in the previous round. On the Sunday he won his first two games against Dennis Priestley and Nigel Theydon 6-0- and 6-1 respectively. Then went on to beat 2 time World Champion and newly crowned UK Open Champion Adrian " Jackpot" Lewis 6-5 before being beaten by fellow JBD player Darren Webster in the last 16 stage.
Webster's performance over the weekend was even more impressive. The World number 38 reached the quarter final stage on both days beating World Number 11 Justin Pipe and World Number 1 and current World Champion Michael van Gerwen in the process.
Webster is playing some incredible darts at the moment and is looking highly likely to make the all important top 32 in the World by the end of the year.
