World number 31 Darren Webster won his first PDC Players Championship Qualifier defeating Daryl Gurney 6-1 today ( 8th July ). The Norwich man started the day beating Wes Newton 6-5 . He then went onto defeat Johnathon Worsley, Ron Meulenkamp, Jeffrey de Graaf and Alan Norris. Semi final opponent Kyle Anderson looked like getting swept away, quickly falling behind 5-1. The Australian mounted a great comeback to level the match 5- 5 before Webster took the final leg to move into his first final since 2005. In no mood to let this opportunity slip Darren comfortably beat the World number 17 to claim his first PDC event since becoming a full time professional and signing with JBD in 2012.
The win also cements Websters position in next months Sky Televised World Matchplay and moves him up to 28 in the PDC order of merit.
