Norwich darts star Darren Webster continued his good run of form last weekend by reaching the semi finals of the Players Championship qualifier 17 being held in Dublin. Websters incredible run saw him beat Spanish star Antonio Alcinas 6-4, World number 8 Michael Smith 6-2, Johny Claydon 6-5 and Nigel Haydon 6-4. This sequence of wins put him into the quarter final stage where he beat former world champion Steve Beaton 6-5. As is frequently the case these days Darren bumped into World number 1 Michael van Gerwin and was comprehensively beaten 6-0 by the Dutch darting superstar.
However - putting the MVG loss aside - the days results have put Webster into qualifying position for this years William Hill World Championship. Darren is also guaranteed a place in this years Cash Converters Players Championship Finals being held at Butlins In Minehead from the 25th- 27th November. Sky Sports and ITV4 broadcast respectively.
