Darren Webster started 2018 in pretty much the same fashion as he finished 2017. The Norwich ace continued his rise up the PDC rankings by reaching the final of the UK Open Qualifer 2 last weekend ( 2nd-4th Feb ). Although losing his final game against world number 1 Michael van Gerwen 6-3, Webster not only won £5000 but also secured his place in the UK Open finals at Butlins Minehead on March 2nd. His performances in the 6 qualifying events also means that he has reached a career high world number 19. Equally as important his performances of late have put him in a seeded position for July's World Matchplay Championship. Two years ago Webster was ranked 42 in the world, now statistically he is playing at a level equal to, and in some cases better than some of the players playing in the current Unibet Premier League line up. It is some achievement !
