Darren Webster is still in with a small chance of qualifying for the Players Championship Finals at Butlins in Minehead at the end of the month.
In today's penultimate day of qualifying he defeated fellow JBD player Jamie Caven 6-5 but lost in the next round to evergreen Yorkshireman Dennis Priestley 6-4. Webster was ideally placed at 3-2 up to capitalize on his lead but made crucial mistakes to allow Priestley to win the match.
The board final game loss leaves Webster in the unenviable position of having to reach the final of the last qualifiers tomorrow to make it to Butlins.
Whilst not impossible it will take some doing.
Barring a disaster tomorrow, Jamie Caven will also join Andy Hamilton in the 3day ITV 4 event which starts next Friday.
