Darren Webster started his Matchplay campaign in emphatic fashion beating world number 6 James Wade 13-11. The early part of the match had seen the Norwich darts ace trail Wade 6-2. He then won five of the next 6 legs to move hesitantly in front. Wade then regained his composure to move 9-8 up and one leg away from victory. In the next leg James missed 3 match darts to claim the match and Darren stepped up to cripple Wades mistake by checking out on 102 to not only level the match but change the whole complexion of the game. With both players now needing two clear legs to win Darren looked significantly more comfortable in a shootout situation and duly claimed a very professional victory. His second round opponent was Steve West who himself had impressed in his first round win against world number 10 Micheal Smith. Tuesday's game against West saw Darren run out an 11-7 winner. Leading from the beginning, Darren looked ever more comfortable on the big stage and he will be difficult to budge in Thursday's quarter final match against world number 3 Peter Wright.
