World number 14 Darren Webster started his 2018 Bet Victor World Matchplay campaign today with a comprehensive 10-6 win against Irishman Steve Lennon. Webster started the match throwing possibly the best quality 3 legs of his career. Quickly buliding up a 3-0 lead Darren missed three darts to go 4-0 in front. Sensing a lapse in Darrens concentration Lennon punished Webster twice to close the deficit and go into the first break trailing by a single leg. Darren composed himself to give himself a two leg 6-4 lead going into the second break. Scoring heavily Darren again broke throw to punish Lennon and with the gap widening to 9-6 Webster took out the final leg to move into the second round on Wednesday evening. He will play either world champion Rob Cross or Mervyn King.
